so deviantart really is a great place to expose your work, u never know whos watching... my Golden Axe fan art will be featured on a website dedicated entirely to Genesis and will be in an article about game fanart from DA (from other members too) and cosplay... i was also briefly interviewed so that was cool... its great to see people outside of DA that appreciate what we artists do on here as well as classic games and fan art...

ok im at school and have to go back to class! peace kids

So now im back in school!! Started today, everything went well. Finished my summer project last night, the Golden Axe splash i just submitted, and brought it to our critique on our 1st DAY!! i think it went pretty well... but yea, im really lookin forward to tearin up senior year and gettin together my professional portfolio... should be awesome..

so i got offered a job teaching kids art at this community place... kids after school in the afternoon, highschool students at night... $15/hour, plus my full time job.. the extra money on the side might actually help me get a FUCKING APARTMENT for me and my wife FINALLY!!

not too shabby i must say, but im more excited about adding that to my resume... so yea im gonna give that a shot and see how it goes, im a pretty patient person so i think i can handle kids heheh...

well im pretty tired, and i have to get started on my first assignment: 75 thumbnails ..... blah....

so holy crap school starts for me next thu... im excited in a few ways... my summer has been for the most part pretty lame on account of the fact that ive basically worked all of it 6 days a week, didnt have any vacation days so decided not to take a week off to not lose money and basically didnt go ANYWHERE... i mean, yea i spent a lot of time w/ my beautiful wife and had a lot of fun nights w/ her, chilled a lot w/ friends and went to a few parties but shit man i can still do that during the school year, so now that summer's over i feel like i miss out... but now that im grown up and takin on more responsibilities, i guess it goes w/ the territories... my first "real" summer... where u dont take vacations anymore.... its not about cancun or goin away... its about time off from school, and more time to work more hours to save up money for an apt...

my next paid vacation days come by my next annual at my job which will be in Oct, BUT of course by then i will be in school and wont be able to take the time off really... or maybe i should but go to class only... thats still 5 days off... ehhh... yea ill only be in school part time, and bang out the last 2 studio classes for senior year....

im so ready to fuck shit up my last year at UARTS... im gonna give my best and love every min. of it... ive rediscovered my passion for art and all things that inspired me to draw so much like i did when i was a kid... something i seemed to have lost during highschool 6 or 7 years ago... but now i feel like the shit is comin out right and im ready to tackle the illustration world... i feel confident, and am happy to say that...

having said that, ill close by saying "good bye boring-ass summer, its been good not having to worry about deadlines or losing sleep, but its time to get back in gear and do what i do best."

So this is my 1st journal entry... hence the name... ha..... ha....

ok so today is my only day off and im just sittin around checkin the site for some more good artwork (a.k.a. inspiration)...

ive decided to switch gears and prolly stop w/ one project i was working on, which was designing characters for all the zodiac signs.. my only fully designed one is Aries which right now is my latest submission.. ive also sketched out ideas for Aquarius, Taurus, Virgo and Libra but then i realized i might wanna spend more time gettin more ILLUSTRATIONS done for my professional portfolio (and along the way better my digital painting skills)... especially stuff to post on here...

so i thought, it would be awesome to create an awesome fight scene from the game Golden Axe, featuring the amazon Tryis Flare which i have a drawing of on here... i got all the way past thumbnails, rough sketches, even photo references i took... i started the final drawing and when i was really high the other night i realized "maybe i should ditch all the fun random projects ive been trying to work on and focus in something that i can really sell to someone".... so i thought of a really cool idea for a children's storybook (a route i never intended to take, since i like doing more adult themed stuff)....

its about mythology in another world where all the creatures DO exist and my older sis (whos an amazing writer) is helping me w/ the storyline while i ILLUSTRATE if course...lol... so we got a lot of ideas down and ive already started designing like 5 characters and we're both reallllllly excited about this and feel like this is a better move for my career...

i really wanna just draw and show off my shit here like everyine else haha! but what i want more is to spend the little time that i have (between working 6 days a week and having a needy wife lol) actually gettin a story done that were gonna try to get published (or self-publish!) and see if i can start making money from my art sooner! heres hopin!

i know it will def. take a few months before we can write out a whole story (that will prolly span out to 10 small books) plus all the illustrations for the first dummy book and puttin it together and all the preparations before we start tryin to promote it or pitch the ideas to publishing companies... but im thinking in the meantime, ill post some of the sketches and shit to show my progress (to who ever the hell cares haha)

we'll see where this leads... hopefully somewhere promising...
